About this Project: The Story Behind Our Online Line and Template Generator

Our Motivation: Why We Started This Project

Behind every digital tool is a personal story. This project is based on two completely different experiences that revealed the exact same core problem: the lack of flexible, customized, and immediately available materials for writing and practicing.

1. The Challenge of Language Learning for Adults

The first inspiration for this app came from personal experience. When learning a foreign language as an adult, you quickly hit a wall if the new language uses a completely different script. Whether it is Cyrillic, Arabic, Japanese Kana, Greek, or Hindi – the brain not only has to memorize new vocabulary, but also completely reprogram the fine motor skills of the hand. During this intensive learning phase, it became clear that a structured writing aid would be worth its weight in gold. Standard writing pads available in stores rarely match the specific proportions of foreign characters. Commercial notebooks are often expensive, inflexible, or simply not designed for adult learners. There was a lack of a tool to quickly create custom lined writing paper for self-printing – perfectly adapted to the respective characters.

2. Targeted Tutoring in Primary School Without Expensive Writing Books

The second impulse came from my immediate environment and concerns the youngest members of our society. A close friend's daughter was in first grade and, like many children starting school, had visible difficulties learning to write. Keeping up with the correct ruling (Lineatur), proper pen control, and neatly forming the letters was hard for her. To provide the child with targeted tutoring and playful support at home, the parents faced a dilemma. They either had to constantly buy new, expensive writing books—of which only a few pages were eventually used—or lines had to be painstakingly drawn by hand with a ruler on blank paper. Neither was a sustainable solution. Out of this necessity, the idea for this app was born: a platform that allows parents, teachers, and educators to generate precise writing templates and pre-writing tracing exercises in no time. This allowed us to help the young girl with minimal effort – completely without tedious drawing or unnecessary expenses.

Thanks to individual customization, line spacing, grids, and letter spacing can be flexibly adjusted to work perfectly for delicate Asian characters as well as flowing Arabic lines.
